The Route 1 Widening & I-95 Improvements Project is a $42 million transportation improvement near the I-95 Exit 126 interchange in Prince William County, Virginia, designed to relieve congestion and improve access at a heavily traveled commuter connection. The project widens Route 1 to six lanes and adds dual left-turn lanes providing access to I-95 in both the northbound and southbound directions.
In addition to the Route 1 widening, the project includes a new auxiliary lane on I-95 northbound to improve merging and traffic flow, along with new noise barrier walls to benefit the surrounding community. Together, these improvements target one of the corridor's key bottlenecks while enhancing safety and mobility for daily commuters. Construction is underway, with work continuing through September 2027.
Dulles Engineering provides construction quality control services on the project, including field and environmental inspections and materials testing of concrete, asphalt, and soils to verify compliance with VDOT specifications. Through accurate, timely QC reporting and documentation, Dulles Engineering supports the safe, high-quality delivery of these corridor improvements.
